Harry Harding

Playing For: 24 years.

Musical Education: Foundation Degree in Popular Music Studies, Triple Distinction in BTEC ND Music Practice. Also a huge amount of studio and live experience over the last 15 years in Great Britain and Europe. The real world is the steepest learning curve I’ve encountered!

Favourite Genre(s): Anything that grooves or has a harmonic or melodic hook. Once it gets it’s claws into me I’m sold.

Favourite Musician(s): So so many to choose from, but I’d have to say the old Motown/Stax players, engineers, and producers. They had a special thing going on there, as did the Muscle Shoals guys. All the great production I’ve heard since has more often than not been based on their model, so if you were involved in that movement, you have my respect.

Favourite Musical Moment: There are too many, from audience members in Germany being moved to tears after watching one of the bands I perform in, travelling to Nashville to perform at the Americana Music Awards, performing in front of Jools Holland and Van Morrison, playing a BBC Live session at Maida Vale or playing live on Bob Harris’ Folk show on BBC Radio 2. It’s all life affirming stuff, whether it’s a huge gig or an intimate one.
