Phoenix is the first offering from Devon based singer songwriter
‘Phoenix’ is the debut single from Elly J Devon, a Devon based singer songwriter.
Music has always been her driving motivation:

She has already created a firm songwriting foundation, as a result of a love of music from an early age. Her passion for songwriting started at 8, and she was awarded a vocal scholarship to Wells Cathedral school when she was 12 . Throughout her education her love for soul and jazz grew and has helped define her writing style.
Remote drum tracking
My good friend and brilliant engineer Tommy Williams contacted me about recording some drums for a new artist he was producing. When he sent over the tracks I was immediately inspired, because of her obvious songwriting ability. She is able to communicate her feelings with ease, and with heartfelt emotion.
I used a couple of layers for the drums. The first being a simple rhythm on brushes, over which I then recorded the main beat. The combination of the two help to create a bed for the drawn out chord movements. The strings were also played by HCH Studios friend Ben Sutcliffe, who is brilliant at creating those lush layers.
